The buyer’s guide

Understand the investment before you make it.

A website, search strategy or automation system can be valuable. It can also be the wrong investment when the problem has not been understood.

Learn what you are paying for, what changes the cost, what to ask before you sign, and when the right answer may be to wait.

Start with your question

You do not need to know the technical answer yet.

Start with the decision you are trying to make. We can work backwards from there.

01 / CLARITY

“I’m not sure what I actually need.”

Begin with the problem, audience, constraints and desired outcome. You may need a diagnosis before you need a build.

02 / INVESTMENT

“I need to understand the cost.”

Learn what shapes the fee, which ongoing costs to plan for and how to compare proposals beyond the headline price.

03 / CONFIDENCE

“I want to know whether it is worth it.”

Connect the work to trust, enquiries, discoverability, operational time and the business decision you need to improve.

01 / Cost

What does a website or digital system cost?

The honest answer starts with a real baseline, then explains what moves the price.

Published starting point

₦180,000+

Custom engagements

A starting point, not a universal quote or a promise that every project can be delivered at this price.

Why is there no single price for every project?

A focused professional website, a commerce journey and a connected system with integrations do not require the same work. Page count alone is a poor way to price them.

The fee depends on the outcome, strategy and content required, design complexity, integrations, migration, testing, accessibility, search requirements, delivery constraints and post-launch support.

We will not advertise a low headline price and reveal the real scope later. The proposal should define what is included, excluded, required from you, the milestones and recurring third-party costs before you commit.

What moves the fee

You are paying for the problem to be solved properly.

A
Diagnosis & direction

Clarifying the audience, offer, business goal and bottleneck before choosing a solution.

Strategy
B
Content & experience

Structuring information so visitors understand the offer, judge credibility, find answers and take the next useful step.

Clarity
C
Engineering & integration

Responsive implementation, forms, payments, content systems, third-party services, data flows and agreed edge cases.

Delivery
D
Discovery & measurement

Technical SEO, information architecture, accessible markup, analytics and foundations for being found and understood.

Findability

Working with a fixed budget? Say so early. We can discuss a smaller first step, sequence the work or tell you when waiting is wiser. A smaller scope should mean less scope, not hidden compromises.

02 / Value

A good digital investment changes something beyond the screen.

The outcome is not “a website”. The outcome is what the website makes easier.

That might mean helping a prospective client understand your expertise, giving a buyer confidence to enquire, making your business easier to discover, or removing a repetitive manual step.

Value depends on the business, offer, audience, execution and follow-through. A new website does not automatically create demand, guarantee rankings or fix a weak offer.

Where value can appear

Look for a change you can explain or measure.

Choose relevant indicators before the project starts. Not every project needs every metric.

Possible outcomes

These are possible outcomes, not guarantees or claims about every TWM project.

Trust & understanding

Can the right visitor explain what you do, who you help, why you are credible and what to do next?

Better enquiries

Does the journey help people self-qualify and send more useful enquiries, rather than simply increasing form submissions?

Discoverability

Can search engines and answer systems crawl, interpret and connect your content to relevant questions? Visibility still depends on competition and external factors.

Time & operations

Can a useful integration or automation reduce repeated work, errors or hand-offs without removing a decision that needs a human?

03 / The other side of cost

What happens if you do nothing?

Sometimes doing nothing is the right decision. The point is to make it deliberately.

01

Confusion can stay expensive.

If visitors cannot understand your offer, they may leave, ask questions you have already answered or compare you only on price.

02

Manual work keeps taking time.

Repeated admin, disconnected tools and avoidable hand-offs can keep consuming attention.

03

Technical debt can compound.

Quick fixes become harder to maintain when nobody owns the structure, integrations, access or documentation.

04

A rebuild can also be wasteful.

If the offer, audience or process is unclear, a new interface may simply make the same problem look more expensive. Diagnose first.

04 / Compare proposals

Do not compare quotes by page count alone.

A lower quote can be sensible. It can also describe a smaller job. Compare like with like.

01

Scope & exclusions

What will be delivered, and what is outside the agreement?

02

Content & decisions

Who writes, supplies, approves and maintains content? How many review rounds are included?

03

Ownership & access

Who controls the domain, hosting, accounts, source files, data and third-party licences? Get it in writing.

04

Quality & launch

What is tested for mobile behaviour, accessibility, performance, forms, search basics and security?

05

Ongoing costs

Which domain, hosting, plugin, API, email, content or maintenance fees recur?

06

After launch

What handover, documentation, support window, maintenance or improvement option is included?

05 / Fit

Is The Web Maven the right fit?

The right partner should help you make a better decision, even when the answer is not “build more”.

A good fit when…

You want to understand the problem, make informed trade-offs, collaborate on decisions and care about what happens after launch.

It may not be a fit when…

You expect guaranteed rankings or revenue, or need a large scope delivered without access, content, feedback or time for proper testing.

You do not need a complete brief.

Tell us what feels unclear, slow, invisible, too manual or difficult to trust. A useful first conversation can start there.
